Wilderness Permits--none required for the Thousand Lakes Wilderness; enjoy your visit

This may be the shortest hike in the Thousand Lakes Wilderness, but as you labor up the initial 1,000' climb you may have your doubts.

It flattens out as you approach pretty little Eiler Meadow. And shortly thereafter you reach 3/4-mile long Lake Eiler.  There are two good campsites with fine lakefront views.

Your trail meanders around a loop of Thousand Lakes Valley for a few miles.  Along the way you find another good campsite at Barrett Lake, before returning back down to the trailhead.

Mosquitos June-July.
Snow Nov-June.
